Fern WiFi Cracker keeps re- discovering the same APs

Fern will discover the group of APs that I can see with airodump-ng wlan0, about 40. It then discovers 40 more, then 40 more, and keeps going into the thousands.
Kali-Linux is running on VirtualBox on a Windows 11 Host.
USB Wireless adapter is RTL8814AU 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
This may be a clue. When I change the adapter in to monitor mode, it does not rename it to wlan0mod. I have to rename it manually if order for Fern to see it.

    Did you resolve this?

I am seeing the same behavior, wondering if you have found a solution. I am running 2022.3 kali, and using AWUS036ACH (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) with the https://github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8812au driver.
Other tools (airodump-ng, wifite) work properly. The Fern-logs seem to contain accurate information, but it looks like it is only capturing APs on the 2Ghz band. I wonder if this has to do with my wireless card being 802.11a/b/g/n/ac?
