I just installed Kali (2022.2, Installer 64bit, Bare Metal version) on a VM (virtualbox) and I tested the dig command.
The version installed (9.18.4-2-Debian) looks like bugged compared to a different distro/derivate (Linux Mint installed on virtualbox as well, DiG 9.16.1-Ubuntu)
If I execute the dig command on Kali with the +trace option, it's not able to display/retrieve the whole stack (it show only the root and the TLD info), when instead the Mint version runs ok
If instead I use the dig command without the +trace option, the Resource Record is displayed
The command I'm trying is:
Code:
dig @1.1.1.1 example.net A +trace
Maybe it's a bug in this specific version but I don't know how to change/upgrade/downgrade it
Do you have an idea what's the trouble?
How can I troubleshooting it?
Maybe other dig options are affected...
Thanks
