I am having the same exact issue. However, After reading your post about how you figured out how to have the grub actually find the OS. I have tried your steps but to no avail :/. I had Kali recently installed on my machine but for some odd reason it will not install correctly again even though I have formatted the HD and tried installating Kali 3 times already and right now im using the Bootable usb.
