I'd like to start using hashcat on Kali instead of under Windows. Go0gling up info has left me utterly confused. hashcat.net says to download the latest build from github and I downloaded both hashcat-master AND the sources tar, which turned out to be identical except it includes an extension-less file called pax_global_header.
Reading the FAQ page on hashcat.net, it seems I can just run hashcat from the folder, but there is nothing in there that looks executable, so I believe their info has not been updated to reflect the latest version. The BUILD.md file says I can run Make after downloading OpenCL-Headers but there's already a folder in there called OpenCL, and BUILD.md shows the command Make like this:
```sh
$ make
but the closest file I see in there is named Makefile, will that work?
So...
Has anyone successfully run the new hashcat on Kali and if so, how did you install it?
