Unlocking locked C:\ partition with Kali

    Hello,

I am trying to remove the Windows 10 password with Kali, using the basic command < chntptw -u "user" SAM > in the folder /Windows/System32/Config as i usually do.

But everything in the C:/ drive where the OS is installed is locked. Every single folder including the Windows one got a little padlock icon and i can't do anything on there with Kali.

When i try to do the command i listed earlier i get a message telling me :

openHive(SAM) failed: Read-only file system, trying read-onlyopenHive(): read error: : Read-only file system
chntpw: Unable to open/read a hive, exiting..

I tried a lot of solution that i found on some forums, but none seemed to work.

The locked C:/ partition seems to be because of the hibernation of Windows 10 and i do have a file named hiberfile.sys in my C:/ Drive; but i'm not 100% sure that this is causing the issue because i checked on another computer and i do have the hiberfile.sys but the partition isn't locked in Kali like the other one.

So my question is, how do i unlock my c:/ partition with Kali in order to make it read and write again ? And is it safe to do so?

    Thanks
