    Question skype in kali2016.1 -- missing libssl1.0.0:i386

    Hi,

I upgraded my sana 2.0 to 2016.1 successfully.
I have problem with libssl1.0.0:i386. It is required for skype install.
    But, I have this error:

    # apt-cache policy libssl1.0.0:i386
    libssl1.0.0:i386:
    Installed: (none)
    Candidate: (none)
    Version table:

Earlier, on sana, Skype worked well. Now I can not install.

    Any help?

    TIA & best regards,

    sole

    Hi Sole,
I'm having the exact same issue.
The problem is that Kali 2016.1 uses libssl1.0.2:i386, and skype depend on libssl1.0.0:i386.

I tried installing libssl1.0.0 but didn't worked since it needs i386 version and it's not available in the official repos.

Hove someone is able to help us.

    Regards

This would be very helpful, as skype is a frequently used communication tool by man of us I'm sure. I will go ahead and test some things and try to get it working as well and will of course report back with findings. Good luck to everyone and lets hope we get a resolution soon.

Download libssl1.0.0 from here: ( Make sure to download your system compatible version!, if it needs i386 version search for it and download it )

    https://packages.debian.org/jessie/libssl1.0.0
or search on google for it

once downloaded, go to downloads folder: cd /root/Downloads
    and install the package :
    dpkg -i packagename.deb
    for me it was
    dpkg -i libssl1.0.0_1.0.1k-3+deb8u2_amd64.deb

then install skype as usually you do

Hi i found a solution you must ad this to your sources lsit deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-security main
after that apt-get update you will get error couse its ubuntu repo but after you can apt-get install libssl1.0.0 and after that i installed skype with gdebi that auto installed libssl1.0.0:i386 and after installed skype with no prob. dont forget to remove the deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-security main after u install skype.

Be aware : It is definitely not recommended to add ubuntu repositories to your sourcelists

You' should do as explained and install the missing libraries manually with dpkg -i
