Is this a built in chipset and Kali installed direct on hardware, or are you using a VM and a USB adapter?
Realtek are problematic with Linux generally, unfortunately, I used to use them and you could get them working after jumping through lots of hoops, but they were never straightforward…

This is not specific enough, there are lots if chipsets build by them.
As you were told, many realtek chips have very bad support for linux, so until we know which chipset exactly is being used, we can not be certain whether there even is a solution.
If its a built in adapter use the lshw (list hardware) command to find more information, this will tell you the exact chipset being used.
sudo lshw -C network
