Change the keyboard layout on the login of an encrypted live USB key

Hi everyone,
I am new on Kali, I succeed to install kali-linux-2024.3-live-everything-amd64 on a USB key and encrypted it. But I have a problem during the login my keyboard is QWERTY is it possible to change the layout? So far I have tried without success :

setxkbmap fr
loadkeys fr
loadkeys fr-pc
dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
/usr/sbin/update-initramfs.orig.initramfs-tools -u -v

And of course i have this output at the end:

Adding script /usr/share/cryptsetup/initramfs/bin/cryptroot-unlock

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/panic/ORDER ignored: not executable

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-premount/ORDER ignored: not executable
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/ORDER ignored: not executable

Is there a solution to change the keyboardThank you for your help. layout on the login?
Thank you.

If you did not set up persistence on your USB then you have a ‘fixed image’ on the USb and so no you can’t.

I find the best way to acheive what most users want (a USB that I can boot, update and add to etc) is not to use a prebuilt USB image, buit to use an installer ISO image and install Kali to the USB as if it was any other hard disk.
