Directory problems

What have you tried: i have tried to unhide files even though i didnt hide them. i have looked for answers on reddit and youtube and nothing. did not have this problem till out of nowhere the issue started. i am not an expert on using all this yet but i dont think i did anything to start this problem.

What is the error: i am using linux on virtualbox and using terminal i cant get to any files with cd command. i have something in my downloads i needed to try and get wifi running instead of wired connection. it says it can not find download file. file is there in gui though.

What device is this on:running on virtualbox through asus tuf A17

right click in directory where this file is and choose to open terminal in current directory, then type ls -la and post screenshot.

You’re not trying to cd into the archive? the red colored file? because you can’t.

Can you in this screenshot type whereis cd press enter and then also do cd into blue folder, what error does it display when you do?

i wasn’t going to and was just going to bridge mine. but it seems i may need a usb adapter.

## Recommended Adapters for Kali Linux

Kali and other distros used for pen testing, security analysis and other
monitor mode work need usb wifi adapters that have drivers
that do an excellent job of supporting monitor mode. This list of
adapters is based on many conversations and a lot of testing. There are
other adapters that may work but this list is designed to be a list of
the best adapters that are available for purchase new at this time at
reasonable prices.

Note: The adapter that best meets your needs can depend on exactly what
you plan to do so asking questions is a good idea.

Note: Specific Realtek WiFi 5 based adapters will likely be added to this
list over the next few months as testing is completed. This will likely
include adapters based on the Realtek rtl8812au, rtl8821/11au (kernel 6.14)
chips and the rtl8814au (kernel 6.15) chip. This is possible due to standards
compliant drivers being added to the rtw88 driver series with kernels 6.14
and 6.15.

thank you so much for the responses. used to use a bit of linux when suse was out. trying to learn more about it now days and really appreciate the help.
