What have you tried: on using kali i discovered that my keyboard is not working right with kali
What is the error: the | and \ turns into theses <> when using kali
What device is this on: kali vm
not sure what to do as ive uninstalled and reinstalled it and same thing happens it also isn’t recognizing the configurations ive been asked to type into kali and it wont work without the correct symbols
You don’t need to reinstall, just change your keyboard locale.
Go into System Settings, search for keyboard, and you might have to try a few different ones to find the right configuration.
You will need to change your settings for the VM in the hypervisor software too I’d expect.
Usually choosing ‘default’ for keyboard will normally pass the Host keyboard to the guest properly, 90% of the time. Most systems are configured ‘out of the box’ for US keyboard layouts, and many things like @ and " will change places if your on any other layout.
