What device is this on:hp
installed directly on hardware?
in a VM?
Dual booted?
HP use a variety of wifi chipsets over the years, you need to give far more info than that.
If you have an ethernet port, connect it via a cable before trying to install kali, it should sort the wifi out as part of the process.
