Issue trying to update kali linux

What have you tried:sudo apt full-upgrade -y

What is the error:Sub-process dpkg --set-selections returned an error code (100) and Couldn’t record the approved state changes as dpkg selection states.

What device is this on:Kali linux laptop.

Can you share the full error paste?

I used a live image to install Kali Linux to the Hard Disk using a USB drive.
