RPi3B+ on kali-linux-2020.3a-rpi3-nexmon.img no packet injection?

Using the latest Kali image (kali-linux-2020.3a-rpi3-nexmon.img) on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, wireless packet injection isn't working.

root@kali:/home/kali# airmon-ng check kill

Killing these processes:

Any suggestions appreciated!

It is not clear that monitor mode on the raspberry pi is actually working. I can not see anything but beacons and some spanning tree stuff, despite generating ordinary traffic, even unsecured ordinary traffic. I have tried wireshark and kismet, both see beacons and can identify aps, but don't see traffic. If Shoreview any help.
