Android emulator

I'm trying to get the android emulator up and running with an AVM, but the when starting the AVM all that is shown is a blank screen in the emulator.

running logcat the process gets stuck at:

"emulator: ping command: /usr/share/android-sdk/tools/ddms ping emulator 22.2.1.0 "tungsten Graphics, Inc" "Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2" "Mesa 8.0.5""

Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I'm positive I'm doing something stupid.

Hey what's up what app are you using what terminal app do you have what VNC do you have what phone do you have and what version of android do you have?
I have bt5 working on my Droid razr 4.1.2 so I am pretty sure I can help you setup Kali.

Sorry, may be a bit of a misunderstanding. I'm trying to get the emulator working within Kali, not load Kali on a device.

i'm not expert ..if this can help..... in my kali64 work great avd emulator in sdk tools:

PS:i've download & unpack adt-bundle-linux-xxxxxx && for 64bit need install (I THINK)ia32-libs

Thanks, I'm running 32 bit Kali and getting issues. Tried both the preinstalled sdk and downloading a fresh copy with the same problems.
