Greetings Kali community,

I'm going to set up my new laptop the next days and this will be the time I finally start with security testing.

My requirements for the setup are:
- Kali for the above mentioned reason
- something debian based for my daily work (atm Node.js and FEniCS, may change over time)
- Win8 for miscellaneous stuff and occasional gaming

Now, I wonder: should I scrap point two in favor of Kali? On my research I found quite some resources on "should I dual boot or use a vm", but my question is rather "should I use two debian based linux or just one?"

some pros of only Kali:
- less cluttered hard disk
- incentive to learn Kali is higher (I can see myself thinking: "I would have to reboot to try x and y on Kali, let's do this tomorrow and work on z instead")

and some cons:
- especially for the Node.js stuff I would have to fiddle with the white and blacklisting of the applications, which will get hard to keep track.

Neutral:
- as Kali uses a (customised) upstream Debian kernel, I don't think I will run into too much compability issues
- default single root user: I won't need any more users than myself on the system and I consider myself responsible enough to not mess up with all time root access. (famous last words, I know )

Just for the record, some sites I read:
- https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...virtualization
- amongst other sites from the documentation: http://docs.kali.org/introduction/sh...use-kali-linux

I would be glad to hear some opinion from you guys. Also more Pros and Cons you can think of would make my decision much easier.
Greetings,
Nym
