I’ve tried reinstall 3 times the image of Kali Linux ISO for I thought it would be the problem but same problem exist, and also try different USB, and nothing change, the always problem is error while partition, I also tried manually formatting the USB so thinking it would fix my problem but it just p*ss me off. Does anyone can help me please installing this Kali into a live bootable USB
Try different tool like ventoy for making bootable usb
@empireofeagles Ventoy and rufus are usually the culprits. Balenaetcher is the recommended tool.
As to @Anknown - your post contained basically nothing as far as solid information or specific errors. What do you expect anyone to do with that?
Be clearer in your ask, do you want a Kali live ISO on a USB you can boot from, or are you trying to install to a USB stick as if it is a hard drive (Live ISO contains its own boot code, installing as if on a hard drive you need to create a boot partition on the USB)
I’ve used Ventoy several times and I said it’s better. Also, you’re able to multi-boot several ISOs with just one time boot USB.
Yeah we get a lot of people saying “rufus” or “ventoy” worked for them. We also get a lot of people that finally solve their weird problems by not using them anymore.
So, unless you intend to stay here for as long as it takes to solve everyones issue using either ventoy or rufus, I suggest we keep the “but it works on my machine” to a minimum, and stick to the way it is sure to work.
Hey I’m new at the forum, i’ve been using kali for a while now and in every PC that i’ve installed kali or other distros even if we’re talking about Windows, Ventoy never let me down but i’m aware of the issues that he can have
I advise you to maybe try other software too make your flashdrive bootable:
- BalenaEtcher is probably the better like @Eris2cats said but follow ur gut, experiment and fix if it breaks [that’s how we learn]
- Ventoy wont let you down (Prob.)
This isn’t a poll - for years now we had people using rufus and experience problems, that were solved by switching to balenaetcher We had also people chiming in “But I used rufus and it worked for me”. We had the very same with ventoy.
I don’t know what made you add your “ventoy worked for me” voice to this here. The prior problems from numerous people are not up for debate, you probably just do not know about them.
So the same goes to you - lets keep the “but it works on my machine” to a minimum.. the less people listen to random stories about it, and more follow the official documentation that mentions balenaetcher as the first tool to use, the better.
I understand what you’re saying and I’d thought about switching to balena but since i’ve never had any problems, I still don’t have a “true” reason to switch it up.
This is like the debate of kali beeing a good/bad daily OS, some people say its good some say it’s bad and I won’t swap my OS based on that since i’ve never had problems!
If i eventually come across some problemas (on ventoy) I’ll be the 1st to swap into balena.
That’s why I said he should go for balena but if he wants he can go into ventoy_
But I understand your statement.
This is a misconception, I am afraid.
I dont care whether you use balenaetcher or not. I care about the next 10 persons that come running because they used rufus, because they saw someone saying it is just as good, and now they don’t know what to do.
So for the final time - keep the “huh?! but I use it and it works for me” to a minimum, and let people follow the official documentation - you can flash a working installation medium any way you like, and there are other ways beside balena, but it is the one way to do it that “can not go wrong”, and is thus the recommended way for people that don’t know what to do.
