Kali home

Does anyone else think Kali should create a ‘Kali Home’ version for everyday use? I know Kali is primarily designed as an offensive and defensive security OS, but a dedicated version tailored for general, day-to-day use could be really helpful. What are your thoughts on this idea? Also, I’m not sure if this is the right place to discuss it, but I’d love to hear opinions!

Kali is based on debian testing - if you want to exclude the kali specific tools, just use debian?

Fair enough, it was just an opinion—I thought a ‘Kali Home’ could be a nice addition for everyday use.

It’s tough to give an opinion when you didn’t really specify what this distribution would look like. If you’re just looking for the Kali eye candy without any of the offensive tooling, just install it without any of the offensive tooling.

If you have something else in mind, please specify so we can give an opinion on what exactly you’re thinking.

Thanks for the feedback! To clarify, when I say “Kali Home,” I’m imagining a version that keeps the security-focused mindset of Kali but is more geared towards everyday use. Think of it like Linux Mint in terms of usability—something user-friendly and stable for tasks like browsing, productivity, and light gaming.

It would come with a pre-configured firewall, antivirus, and privacy tools, offering a secure environment without the specialized penetration testing tools that Kali is known for. The goal would be to make it easy for home users who want a secure and customizable system for general use.

Similar to Arch Linux ground up i enjoy Kali Linux maybe one day if Kali does make that a lot of people might want to stick with Kali more than anything pre-configured tools Gui customization software app maybe for easy update without corruptions it seems pretty good

Not likely to happen, but it is easy to do yourself. If you custom build an ISO you can get everything you are talking about. In general a basic install of Kali can be used for daily activities without worries, and a barebones install could have a simple script ran to get what you are talking about.

If you make a script or iso config for it, you could share it here and get some feedback
