Kali not loading on VirtualBox

What have you tried: Ive tried to reinstall kali, and maybe that would fix it, and ive reinstalled virtual box, to no avail.

What is the error: The error that virtual box is saying is that AMD-V is not enabled in the BIOS, but i dont know how to enable it, so im hoping someone can help (good to mention im new to this stuff sooo)

What device is this on: Its on Oracle VirtualBox, newest version (I think) and im on a computer (not sure if specs matter, if they do i will tell you guys them)

Im hoping someone could help with enabling that in the BIOS, it would be really helpful, so if someone does, thanks for the help in advance!

forgot to mention but its also saying “Not in a hypervisor partition (HVP=0) (VERR_NEM_NOT_AVAILABLE).” and i have no idea what that means xD

To get into the UEFI/BIOS on a computer, you will have to hold a key as the system starts up, can be F2 key, F7, F8 or sometimes the Delete key.
On some newer systems, it is instead a small ‘reset’ hole that you have to use toothpick sized stick to ‘press’ the microswitch inside. (cut the end off so its squared off not pointed)

Depends on brand of computer… do a web search for "how do I get into the BIOS on ‘insert your computer make and model here’ " and you will find out how.

When your in BIOS under ‘virtualization’ you need to enable the AMD-V settings.

TYSM! Just a quick question, but what else will this do to my pc? anything important to note, just to make sure I don’t mess with anything

It worked! Thank you!

virtualisation extensions in the CPU allows a guest OS to access the CPU directly rather than only through an emulation layer, which as you can imagine, as its the CPU (brains) would really slow a VM down as to be unusable.

These extentions were specifically added for hypervisor (VM) use and won’t harm your computer.

Actually there are some security concerns with hyper-v rootkits - but it’s unlikely that it’s really relevant to you.
