Remove Shortcuts

Hello,

I’m new to Kali Linux. I’ve installed the gnome version. I’ve seen that there are several “Kali” applications shown in the application overview. Most of them are Internet links (like Kali Forum). I’ve tried to get rid of them by deleting the .desktop file from /usr/share/applications. But after a little time or after next reboot the files are generated again.

How can i delete them permanently?

Thanks for any hint.

Best Regards
Sascha

Hi Sascha,

You need to delete both files in this directory:

  • /usr/share/applications
  • /usr/share/kali-menu/applications

There is a the script responsible for syncing the desktop shortcuts: see /usr/share/kali-menu/update-kali-menu.
