Super key is showing unnatural behaviour

What have you tried:

Hi, I am using kali 2024.4
PRETTY_NAME=“Kali GNU/Linux Rolling”
NAME=“Kali GNU/Linux”
VERSION_ID=“2024.4”
VERSION=“2024.4”
VERSION_CODENAME=kali-rolling
ID=kali
ID_LIKE=debian
HOME_URL=“https://www.kali.org/
ANSI_COLOR=“1;31”

And after some days i found that in dell laptop Super L key is showing unnatural behavior.

What is the error:

  1. when i click on Super L button its dont open whisker menu . It opens with only alt+super or ctrl+super key.
  2. if long press on super key then its works. I have also checked my keyboard-configuration and that is also good.

What device is this on:
I am using dell inspiron 3584 laptop.

Hello,

I was having the same issue and came across your thread. I managed to solve it! If go to Keyboard > Application Shortcuts, there will be a shortcut to open the whiskermenu with Super L (xfce4-popup-whiskermenu). If you remove it, the behavior should be back to normal.

I figured this out because I wanted to see if the issue was with the Super key or whisker menu. So when I remapped whisker menu to another key, I found that the whisker menu opened properly with the new key. Then I decided to test it out with Super L (without the defined shortcut) and it worked! I think perhaps in a Kali update, they made Super L open the whisker menu without the need for a shortcut.

Cheers,
Rox
