Just answering here so no one wastes their time - they also asked on the discord server where they at least provided a screenshot
It seems like kali was installed without selecting a desktop environment. Either follow the guide to switch/install desktop environments, or avoid the problem altogether and select one (xfce, gnome, kde…) during installation.
I assume the question here is obsolete.
